PRS Level 2 Boulders Direct Entry
There are two sessions available: First session September 10th | Second session September 12th.
For experienced Routesetters only. The Direct Entry option allows highly qualified candidates to apply for assessment in order to gain certification without taking the associated course. There will be no instruction and candidates should exceed certification prerequisites. If you are interested in Direct Entry you can apply here. There is a $50 application fee. Candidates whose applications are not accepted may apply their application fee to a full course.
PRS Direct Entry Prerequisites:
- 1500 hours of experience or more on a routesetting team
- Has received at least 6 hours of formal work at height training for routesetting from employer, workshops, and/or from mentors
- Can accurately set routes at a variety of grades, in a timely manner, and with minimal forerunning and editing required
- Can transition from routesetting to forerunning routes with a team providing useful and actionable feedback
PRS Level 2 Ropes / Work at Height Level 1
There are two sessions available: First session September 9th-10th | Second session September 11th-12th.
This certification prepares the successful candidate for a role as a professional routesetter at a full-service climbing facility. This course integrates CWA Work at Height standards with routesetting best practices, and is delivered in a blended learning format with online content and two 8-hour days in person.
The PRS Level 2 Ropes course assesses the candidates’ ability to:
- Work at height in a manner compliant with industry standards
- Set, forerun, assess and edit routes efficiently on rope systems
- Identify and control predictable hazards unique to routesetting on rope systems, executing sound judgement
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
- Able to work on a ladder and lift 50 pounds
- Has completed at least 500 hours of routesetting
- Successful completion of PRS Level 2 Boulders
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of climbing movement up to V4 and 5.12-
Work at Height Level 1
The WAH Level 1 course assesses candidates ability to:
- Conduct work at height tasks
- Assist in rescue activities as directed
- Identify and avoid hazards
- Follow the guidance of more experienced WAH workers
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
- Complete the CWA Foundations course
- Have current first aid certification
- Can climb 5.9 on lead
Can lift 50 pounds
Work at Height Level 2
The WAH Level 2 course assesses the candidates ability to:
- Establish working lines behind the wall
- Enact rescues, both accompanied and unaccompanied
- Identify and manage predictable hazards executing sound judgement
- Supervise work at height activities, providing effective feedback
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
- Completed WAH Level 1 successfully
