Write for the CWA

The climbing wall industry is built by people who are willing to share what they know. Whether you've solved a tough operational challenge, developed a better community program, improved staff retention, or discovered a lesson worth passing on, the CWA has many opportunities for you to contribute. These opportunities are not volunteer based, we offer compensation for writers, presenters, and speakers.

The biggest opportunity is presenting at the 2027 CWA Summit in Salt Lake City. Our call for session proposals is officially live!

You can also write an educational article for our blog or present an education webinar.

Speak at the 2027 CWA Summit

The CWA Summit is the climbing wall industry's premier professional development conference and trade show, bringing together climbing gym owners, managers, instructors, routesetters, suppliers, university programs, military recreation leaders, and other industry professionals from around the world. The 2027 event will take place April 28-30, 2027, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

We're looking for thoughtful, practical, and engaging presentations that help move the industry forward.
You don't need to be a professional speaker. Some of the most valuable Summit sessions come from people working in the industry every day who are willing to share real-world experiences, lessons learned, and ideas others can apply in their own facilities.

At the CWA Summit education is broken up into the following tracks:

  • Business and Administration: These folks are owners, CEOs, and Decision Makers in the indoor climbing industry.
  • Customer Experience: These are the senior managers, managers, and customer-facing employees of the industry attending the conference. This is a wide bucket of individuals, so think carefully about whether your session is more geared toward Business and Admin or this group.
  • Coaching and Programming: Coaches and programming staff at all levels across the indoor climbing industry.
  • Routesetting Staff: This includes all levels of management within routesetting and routesetters themselves. Sessions directed toward Directors of Routesetting may fit better as a Business and Administration session.
  • Startups & Expansion: These are the folks who are new or future gym owners. Though 'new' is a relative term, think of the information folks need within the first few years of opening their facilities.

If you've found a better way to do something, there's a good chance other climbing professionals want to learn from you.

As a presenter, you'll receive a complimentary Summit registration and the opportunity to showcase your expertise in front of industry peers from across North America and beyond.

Write for the CWA

Not everyone wants to stand in front of an audience. If writing is more your style, we're also expanding opportunities for industry contributors to share their knowledge through CWA articles.

We're looking for practical, experience-driven content that helps climbing wall professionals solve problems, improve operations, and strengthen their organizations.

Articles can cover everything from management lessons and programming ideas to facility design, customer experience, staff training, routesetting, and emerging industry trends.

Contributors are compensated $275 per article.

Present a CWA Webinar

Have a topic in mind that works better as a conversation than a written article but doesn't need a full Summit session?

Consider leading a CWA webinar.

Webinars allow you to share expertise with climbing professionals throughout the year, reach a focused audience, and contribute to ongoing industry education. They're a great fit for case studies, deep dives, panel discussions, and timely topics that benefit from live conversation and audience questions.

Webinar presenters are compensated $275 per presentation.

Ready to Get Involved?

The CWA exists because industry professionals are willing to share their knowledge with one another. Every article, webinar, and Summit presentation helps strengthen the collective expertise of the climbing wall industry.

If you have an idea worth sharing, we'd love to hear from you.
